For a truly stunning day at sea you can do no better than a day’s sailing aboard a rigged tall ship. These magnificent and luxurious craft, J R Tolkien, Artemis, Thalassa and Astrid, have masts over 30 metres high and are perfect for a day of traditional sailing. You’ll begin with refreshments and a safety briefing from your experienced crew, before sailing out onto the Solent. If you want to enjoy some hands-on activity, then there’s always a job to do on board, from raising the sails to helming the ship, and the friendly crew will show you how it’s done. If you’d rather, you can relax on deck and chat to the crew about the sailing life. If you’re feeling very brave, you may even get to climb the mast to the crows nest and keep watch for pirates (or maybe just admire the view) - but you’ll need a good head for heights. A buffet lunch and afternoon tea will be served on board during the day.
