Vertical Loft
Formed from a Victorian school’s gymnasium, the clients purchased the space from developers Sapcote Lofts who had converted a beautiful school building in Hackney into a series of ’shell spaces’. The requirement was to provide a two-bedroom apartment, whilst retaining the original large volume of space and ’loft feel’ which first attracted them to purchase.
The mezzanine floors were installed to create a galleried space and provide maximum impact upon entering. Frameless glazed bi-fold doors were incorporated into the second bedroom area as this room had no natural light and it was not possible to install external glazing due to the building’s listing.
